The one I'm into right now is 8g, so can I buy an additional  16g?

Or if I use 8g like PC, should I buy only 8g or change both to 16g?

Dual memory is the same as a laptop or PC.
It's just a meaningless story right now.
You can plug it in as you like.

If it's not an old laptop, you can plug it in with 16g.
For now, the cpu side will solve it even if you don't have to make it dual.
