Is it okay to use a credit card in China?

I'm planning to travel to Shanghai, China.

I've never been to China, so I don't have a clue.

I know UnionPay is a Chinese credit card, so I wonder if this card is written on it.

Oh... Also, I wonder if you prefer cash compared to credit cards and cash
