If you use temperature mattresses, what do you put on the mattress?

I'm using a temperature mattress.

It's very hot in summer.

I heard that putting something on top of it reduces the effect of the mattress, so I don't use it, but I think it's better to do anything because of sweat.

I was wondering how other people use it.

Do you cover it like a regular bed?
