There are 10800 and 12800 RAM for laptops, what does it mean?

When I tried to buy additional RAM for my laptop, there were 10800 and 12800 in addition to the capacity.

What does this mean?

And how can I know if it fits this standard?

Indicates the clock speed.
If it's the latest laptop, it's going to work at 12800.
If it's an old laptop, it'll go back to 10800 even if you plug it into 12800.

You don't have to buy a 10800 because the latest laptop will support the 12800.
You can just buy it at 12800

I think it's an old laptop since I'm adding a RAM.
As the seniors said, it will work at 10800 no matter which one you plug in, so you can buy the cheaper one.
