From what I heard, if you talk in a regular chat window, the conversation is saved on the Kakao Talk server.
So the person in charge of the Kakao Talk server can see the contents.
When talking in secret chat mode, the conversation is only saved on the phone, so no one else, including the server representative, knows at all.
