The government has begun to eradicate the use of disposable products, which are being abused by activating delivery applications such as plastic bowls and disposable spoons. As early as the first half of the year, the government will come up with an eradication policy that focuses on converting disposable products into alternative materials. However, it plans to make every effort to control the speed by pushing for an autonomous agreement with delivery companies so that additional costs for collecting bowls will not be passed on to consumers.
According to the Ministry of Environment on the 10th, the government plans to complete an overall survey on the use of disposable products at delivery restaurants within the first half of this year. An official from the Ministry of Environment said, "There is no restriction on the use of plastic bowls or disposable spoons when ordering food using delivery apps."
The Ministry of Environment explained that “ needs to take a closer look at what regulations are needed” and that it will conduct market research more thoroughly by signing voluntary agreements with delivery app companies before deciding on regulatory directions. As the ban on the use of disposable products at once could cause great confusion, it is interpreted that it will increase the intensity of regulations by revising the autonomous agreement → Enforcement Decree → Act. The autonomous agreement is said to be considering allowing the delivery app to choose to use disposable products when ordering food or delivering individual side dishes in a single plastic container with a partition. The government plans to refer to the reactions and side effects of the site that will occur in the process of companies implementing autonomous agreements when completing the one-time product regulation policy.
