Why do you wear shoes indoors in America or Europe?

the-united-states europe shoes

In movies and dramas, people wear shoes indoors in the U.S. and Europe. I don't understand. Then, I think the house will be dirty. Is that okay?

Is there a reason for wearing shoes?

I heard it's because of the heating system
We're an ondol system that warms the floor,
I heard that in the West, people don't like to touch the floor because it's a way to warm the air by using a fireplace

Not everything, but there are a lot of cases where I wear shoes at home
I think that European influenced white people usually wear shoes at home
Other Hispanics and Asians seemed to take off their shoes at home

I heard that it's normal to take off your shoes in the northeastern United States or Canada where it rains a lot

In Germany, it's changing to warm up the floor, so I heard that you often take off your shoes

I think it's natural for us to take off our shoes because of Ondol
