Can't I turn off the home NAS?

I have a question about home NAS.

I'm going to use it to save pictures and watch videos from time to time.

I was wondering if I should not turn off the power and keep it on.

As it is for home use, it is burdensome to keep it on.

Can I turn it off?

I heard that the NAS is used to keep spinning without turning it off.
