I think you bought a Wireless model.
There was a separate button on the wired line as the upper person said.
Wireless is automatically activated when you just turn on Bluetooth.

You can also use noise cancelling only by connecting with a wired cable and then turning on the headphones.
The Bluetooth is off at this time.
