If I did Apple Care Plus, wouldn't I need tempered glass?

I bought iPhone Xs.

Phone is so expensive that I fed Apple Care Plus,

I'm worried about reinforced glass.

I'm using a live phone right now, but I'm being careful because I'm worried that it'll get scratched even if I do a care plus.

Would it be better to use tempered glass?
