What kind of bag is good to carry around when traveling to Europe?

I'm looking for a bag that's good to carry mainly for safety when traveling to Europe.

I thought it wouldn't be good to carry as a backpack.

I only looked for crossbags.

What other types are there?

I'd appreciate it if you could recommend it
