How do I renew my passport after booking a flight ticket?

I already made a reservation for the flight ticket

I bought it at an early price, so I have to renew my passport in the meantime.

Then can I change my passport number if I contact the airline?

Or does it cost a fee to change my passport number?

I was wondering if the passport number is the same because it costs a fee if I write the wrong name.

Or you can take both your old and new passports
