If I use an mp3 with better sound quality than a cell phone, how much should it be?

I'm thinking about buying an mp3 for exercise.

I think it's a little hard to run around and carry a cell phone.

I want the sound quality to be good enough to listen to on a normal basis.

How much sound quality should I use if I use a mp3 with a better sound than a cell phone?
