Is there a small city near Osaka that's worth visiting?

I've been to Osaka about twice in the past, but I have another chance to go there. I've been to Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara in the past. I thought it would be boring to stay only in Osaka this time, so is there any place to visit?

I don't know if it'll be comparable, but I like the feeling of Nagasaki if I look for a place where I can go to Fukuoka
