I'm thinking of New York in the east

I'm thinking of LA or San Francisco in the west

Where would be better if I went on a trip for the first time?

I think the West would be better between the two. I recommend going to LA, Las Vegas, and Grand Canyon.

I also recommend the west side
The flight time was shorter and there were more things to see
It depends on the schedule, but I don't know where else to go in New York, but the west feels like there are more cities to visit
