Where should I get a hotel in San Diego?

I'm going to San Diego to play.

I want to get a hotel that is easily accessible to the sea, but I'm not sure where would be good.

Is there a recommended area?

I would recommend Old Town, mainly for restaurants or places to play, but it's not completely close to the sea. But overall, I recommend it because it's easy.

If you're going to mainly go to the beach, I recommend Lahoya, even though it's a bit expensive. It's also a wealthy neighborhood in San Diego.
