Why does the monitor turn off or have an afterimage when connected to the monitor with hdmi wire?

When I connect the monitor with hdmi wire, the monitor turns off or afterimage occurs. It's not always like that, but sometimes it works. That's why sometimes it makes high frequency sounds.

I don't think it's a good problem because it works well on TV.

Does anyone know why?

If it's an old monitor, it may not be able to receive hdmi signals
